Mark Tewksbury, a 2 time Olympian has been picked as Canada’s Chef de Mission in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Tewksbury was on Canada AM, a CTV morning show on Thursday morning and stated what an incredible honor and privilege it was to be selected as Canada’s Chef de Mission.

He’d evidently already been informed of the decision previously but kept it secret until he revealed it on Canada AM.

The Canadian Olympic Committiee makes the decision on who the Chef de Mission will be. The person then becomes the spokesperson for the Canadian Olympic Team. In the late nineties, Tewksbury was considered an opponent for the Olympic establisment. He was the voice of a group called OATH. This association included Olympic athletes that agreed to act in an ethical fashion, especially after the corruption scandal in Salt Lake City.
