Arthritis is solely misinterpreted as the disease of the old. But mind you it does not just happen to old folks, it also happens to the younger populations. Here, let me give you some little bit of background about the arthritis.

Arthritis is basically a condition wherein the joints of the body are damaged by inflammation. Symptoms of which includes pain and limited function of joints. Inflammation of the joints from arthritis is characterized by joint stiffness, swelling, redness, and warmth and so as tenderness of the inflamed joint. Ill run you down and give you some overview as we tackle each type. There are many types of arthritis, and yes, one of it is the disease of the old or also known as degenerative joint disease the osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is usually the result to the wear and tear of the joints, starting from the cartilages down to the opposing bones eroding each other from day to day use. It can affect the large joints of the body even the smaller ones like of the hands, feet, hips, knee and the like. Obese people are more prone to osteoarthritis. It mostly affects the older females than the males but the males are not an exemption at all. Past joint trauma is also a risk factor to osteoarthritis. Sad to say there is no cure for this kind of disease but you can prevent osteoarthritis from worsening by having physical therapy sessions, weight loss and if worse comes to worst, surgery maybe an option. And oh, one more thing, pain relievers are also one part of the management of the annoying pain.
