He will have access to a kitchen on his floor in his dorm. Every college kid should have 1 frying pan, 1 small saucepan and a george foreman grill.
YOURE A GREAT SISTER BY THE WAY!

For a guy I suggest you get him a one of those indoor grillers. I forgot the name, but you know that ones that grills meat and has a little tray to drain all the fat out. That would be great!

You should make sure that whatever you get him he’ll be allowed to have in the dorms. I go to a large public university and I know that last year there were a lot of items we weren’t allowed to bring to the dorms.

A big, sturdy wok. You can cook allsorts in one, from bacon and eggs to a thai fish curry!

Are you sure they even allow these in his dorm? I have lived in two different college dorms and things like these were never allowed.
But if I had something I would just suggest is just the simple microwave, or one of those portable camping grills. Microwaves can be used for anything, and those portable camping grills come in super handy as well.
Good luck, and what a nice sister!

A small hot pot is a good idea, Rival used to make a great one.

A microwave is key for college. If they he and his roomie already have one, get some of the rubbermaid tupperware that is microwave/diswasher/etc safe – they are great to have around – and they dont’ stain if they happen to not wash it right away
You can boil water in them too!
Keep in mind anything like a popcorn maker, george foreman, etc that emits smoke is a bad idea – can’t tell you how many times we got shuffled out of the dorms b/c people were making food that set off the fire alarm.
A small crock pot might be a good idea, but I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable leaving something cooking while I was gone – the dorms have carpet and stuff so if he leaves it on the carpet, it has the potential to start a fire (probably won’t happen, but better safe than sorry)
My dorms did NOT have a kitchen that allowed access for me to use pots and pans.
If you can’t think of anything, may be bedding would be a good idea. That’s what I bought my brother & sister when they went off to school – an x-tra long twin fitted sheet (that’s what is in most dorms) and something I thought they would totally love design/color wise for a comforter
what a good sis you are!!!!

A small microwave that has a turn table in it for turning food. There is so much a person can do with one. He can boil water, cook all types of meats and veggies, heat soups, and re-heat foods. He can buy frozen dinners and pop them into the microwave for a few minutes.
BE SURE a how-to-use booklet is included in the box.
Pick up a microwave cookbook for him too.
Most college kids live on Ramen noodles.
Fill the inside of the microwave with a few of these packages which only cost twenty five cents. The chicken flavor is the best tasting. Go here to find out what it is and for recipes that you can make a cookbook out of for him:

Mac and cheese is also a popular cheap college staple. I know it can be made in the micro, but if he’ll be using the kitchen he’ll need about a 2.5 quart pot with lid. And most importantly, a strainer! Cutting board, good knife (not a steak knife), measuring spoons, a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup, a set of dry measure cups, an electric tea kettle, and some funky salt and pepper shakers. And maybe a couple wooden spoons for stirring.
