Decide what kind of wire mesh you will buy

Now its time to decide what kind of wire mesh you will buy. There are several sizes and two basic kinds: galvanized before (which is more expensive) and galvanized after. Actually, galvanized before is also galvanized after. I would only use the more expensive variety if my rabbit cages were more subject to the weather or if I plan to use a lot of water under the cages, such as for washing away the rabbit waste. Our cages are in a barn, so we did not spend the extra money.

For the sides, fronts, backs and tops, you can use 1 x 2 mesh. For the bottoms and baby guards, you can use either x or x 1. We used the x 1 type. Just make sure that the side is placed up so that the rabbits feet rest on the smoother side.

An All-Wooden Enclosure. This type of wooden rabbit cages is the most common and popular. It is not, however, the best choice for a pet rabbit. We will cover why this is after discussing the way to design it and build both kinds of rabbit hutches. Wire floors can be very hard on your rabbit’s feet, so it important to have a mat or disposable flooring for your rabbit to sit and walk on. Grass mats are great because they are soft on rabbit feet and can even be nibbled on. You may also want to put down hay, grass or litter for rabbit bedding. A soft cozy bed also makes a great place for your pet to rest and sleep.

Make sure that your rabbit has access to clean water inside the rabbit hutch at all times. A water bottle for rabbits is ideal for storing water and keeping it clean. In addition, keep rabbit food in a crock or bowl made for rabbits and hay in a hay rack. Keeping food off of the floor is best because it prevents contamination and disease.

Bunnies are not by nature aggressive but can develop the trait due to the frustration they feel by having to remain so long in such cramped quarters. Very similar to people forced to live in an 8 x 10 jail cell.

Not only does the ability to run and hop help give your pet a good disposition and a healthier life, but the opportunity to be outside and eat grass can also improve digestion and keep his bowel movements on a regular schedule. When you set up a run, do not place it on an area of the yard that has been treated with any chemicals or you can make the bunny sick. A rabbit hutch and run gives your pet a nice home where he can enjoy his days safe from the weather as well as predators.

Painted parrot cages definitely look pretty

Painted parrot cages would definitely look pretty but paint may peel off and eating it could be detrimental to the parrot inside. However, if birds cages are painted by powder coating with dry paint, it may not do much damage. Since the powder coating system makes the solvent of the conventional paint redundant, and bonds the paint chemically to the metal, there is no risk of the paint peeling off.

While horizontal bars are generally recommended for all bird cages, it is a must for parrot cages because parrots climb through horizontal bars, using them like steps. The spacing between the cage bars should not be more than half an inch except in the case of birds, which are very large.

Quakers can be very territorial around the birds cages. Its an instinctual behavior and to some degree will always be there, especially during breeding season. It sounds like you have a male/female pair, which makes the inclination to bite even stronger in your bird. First, take a look at how you are going about this. Are you reaching in respectfully and slowly so as not to startle them? If not try changing your approach.
I know my quaker will sometimes nip at me no matter how carefully I proceed into the cage. She used to downright bite me but weve gotten it to a warning peck on occasion now. Since my quaker is very food motivated, I started reaching in the cage with a favorite treat.
