Without a doubt, between an applicant who has a pharmacy technician certification and someone who doesn’t have any, a pharmacist wouldn’t have a hard time choosing which one to hire. But to state the obvious, the pharmacist will always choose the certified pharmacy technician. Although all it needs to be a pharmacy technician is a high school diploma or its equivalent, a certification from either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians is very much appreciated by employers. Of course, finishing a formal training from an accredited training school is a welcome bonus.
