I don’t know if this is true or not, but I was told that cold water makes better coffee. Something to do with the oil in the coffee not turning bitter when the water is gradually heated, the way that it does when it’s already hot.

Rather than having to burn a candle underneath a container of potpourri fluid, I would prefer an electric warmer. While I know they do make electric warmers for that purpose, I see where I can buy a beverage warming plate for about $6. If that would work, it’s less expensive than any potpourri electric simmering pot I’ve found.

If you or someone you know has tried a beverage warming plate for potpourri, I’d like to hear how successful it was. Thanks.

Can an old Teapot P-104 be used on an electric stove top burner?

Yes, but not directly on the burners. The pot came with a thin wire star shaped trivet that you put under the teapot. Contact Corning on line to find out how to get one. I know my old Corning coffee pot was recalled, but the teapots are OK.

If you put the pot directly on the burner, you may risk cracking of either the pot or the burner.

Yes, you can. You put the water in and turn it on. It will boil after some time. The amount of water will vary, I found some sites that recommend not filling the roaster more than 1/3 or 1/2 full.

For hard cooked eggs, since it will take a long time for the water to come to a boil (one site said 50 minutes), you should use the ‘boiling water start’ method. Lower the room-temperature eggs into the boiling water, and time 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of your eggs.

For pasta, there will be a large volume of water in the pan even with just 2 or 3 or 4 inches of water in there. Depending on the amount of pasta you’ll be preparing, as long as the pasta is covered by some water, it should be fine, and should take roughly the same time as on the stove (see package directions to tell how long to cook the shape you’re using).

During both of these cooking processes, keep the lid on as much as possible to hold in heat and keep the water boiling.

It doesn’t matter. All the water that enters your house is the same temperature. It takes the same amount of BTUs to heat it to a given temperature no matter what appliance does the work.

I just watched a birth video and the girl was screaming – I mean screaming – at the top of her lungs throughout the entire thing. Is this what it will be like if I don’t choose drugs? I don’t want to do the medicated route if I can help it but after watching that… I know it will hurt but I can’t imagine anything making me shriek nonstop like a teakettle whistle for 25 minutes straight. I am starting to rethink this.

I delivered naturally no drugs no epidural and I did not scream once I may have moaned a lil here and there but it was no where near as bad as i thought it would be!! Your body is made to do this kinda stuff so you manage the pain.The best advice is do your breathing techniques they teach you in lamaze it so saved me from screaming at the top of my lungs
